Bringing Firefly Fran to Light

“Positivity is the spark that saved my dad and ultimately me.”

Firefly Fran’s Frantastic Day is my debut children’s book, but only the beginning of Fran’s adventures in positivity, perseverance, and taking action. She’s a light in the darkness and the leader we all aspire to be.

The story of Fran is based on my own family's journey through a difficult and unpredictable time. As my dad braved a debilitating stroke that struck him in the prime of his life, he continued to be a light to those around him.  When doctors prepared him for the worst, he refused to expect anything but the best- and he beat the odds stacked against him. My dad taught me that absolutely anything is possible with grit, unwavering faith, and most importantly, a positive attitude.

Witnessing the miracle of mindset in my own family and in many of my clients over the years, made me passionate about the power of our thoughts and expectations. Positivity not only impacts recovery from trauma but overall quality of life at all ages.

With my own two little fireflies, I enjoy dreaming up Fran’s next adventure to inspire hope and possibility wherever we pair perseverance with a positive spirit.

If you’ve got little fireflies in your life - grab a copy and please share!  The world could always use a little more light.

About the Illustrator

Brian Talbott was born and raised in the Northwest coast. The moment he found out that he could actually get paid for drawing all day, he was hooked. A Seattle Art Institute alumnus, Brian has worked as a freelance illustrator for much longer than he'd like to admit, working in greeting cards, comics, marketing, and children's picture books. He spends most days drawing, painting, and taking care of his own little family of three cats, a puppy, and a husband.
